Foundation Celebrates 9th annual Santa Day!

In true Christmas fashion and for nine years straight, George and Gayleen Ousley gifted the students at Southwest Early Childhood Center an unforgettable Christmas experience. This event brought presents, crafts, songs, cookie decorating and story time to over 200 students and would not have been possible without the support from George, Gayleen, Jefferson City's local community members and also businesses. Over 30 volunteers helped spread holiday cheer to the students of Southwest throughout the event by sharing their musical talents and singing Christmas carols, being a special holiday helper elf, or by dressing up as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Quoted by the News Tribune, George said, "There's so much happiness and cheer all around."

Each child received a special gift from Santa, along with a book that was donated from Scholastic and a hand-knitted hat donated by Lena Crawford. The children also participated in three different craft stations which allowed them to create ornaments and holiday cards.

The support is given from the Ousley's, through the Foundation, and has provided over 2,000 students a unique holiday experience over the past nine years. The Ousley's love for Southwest continues to grow as they plan to sponsor the efforts of Lisa Dierking's Conscious Discipline Program and the "Karen M. Enloe Service Award" which will be awarded to one SWECC teacher at the Foundation's annual Gala, next Fall.
