The Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation is honored to announce a major gift has been received from the David R. Goller Trust to establish an endowment fund to support the Etta and Joseph Miller Performing Arts Center. This gift may be used for special needs including lighting, sound or technical improvements to enhance performance quality. The gift and also may be used for the improvement of the interior to enhance the appearance of the Miller Performing Arts Center.
David R. Goller practiced law in Jefferson City and was a prominent attorney for over 60 years. As a supporter of the Miller Performing Arts Center and other community entities, Mr. Goller advised his clients to establish charitable trusts which would benefit their community. Mr. Goller worked with the late Etta Miller to structure the original gift to the school district to establish the Etta & Joseph Miller Performing Arts Center. The initial donation from Etta Miller along with additional private donations from the community allowed for a $4.5 million dollar renovation. The newly renovated facility was dedicated on October 5, 2005.
Mr. Goller personally provided resources to enhance the visual aspect of the brick exterior of the Miller Performing Arts Center. He also commissioned a local artist, Kathryn Hajaved, to paint individual portraits of Etta and Joseph Miller along with a large mural that emphasizes the arts and entertainers throughout time, all of which are displayed upon exiting the auditorium.
In recognition of Mr. David Goller’s generosity shown during his lifetime, including his most recent generous gift, the Jefferson City Public Schools Foundation, Jefferson City Public School District and the Etta and Joseph Miller Performing Arts Center hosted a gift announcement on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 9:00 A.M.. on the Miller Performing Arts Center stage. Along with the gift announcement the auditorium was dedicated and will now be known as the David R. Goller Auditorium in the Etta & Joseph Miller Performing Arts Center.
