2018 Scholarship Luncheon
The Jefferson City Public Schools (JCPS) Foundation and the Jefferson City High School Counseling office have partnered together the last six years to celebrate some of the brightest seniors. This year, 61 local scholarships totaling about $467,800.00 were presented to 83 students. These scholarship dollars will be disbursed to these students over the course of their post-secondary endeavors. This event carries a rich history, continues to grow, and has become one of our high school traditions, like homecoming, which we look forward to each year. Throughout this tradition, there have been eight scholarships that have been established since 1986. They are: the Mary Jane Holliway-Sills Journalism Scholarship, the Mildred Hammond Memorial Scholarship for Nursing, the Jefferson Lodge #43 AF & AM Scholarship, the Willie Mae Saville Memorial Scholarship, the Jefferson City West Rotary Club, the Jefferson City High School Alumni Association, the Jefferson City MSTA scholarship and the Jefferson City High School PTO scholarships. Amongst the established scholarships we have many new scholarships that are handed out on a yearly basis like the Gary Hovis Memorial Golf scholarship, the Robert "Robbie" Allen Class of 1994 Memorial Scholarship, and the Scientists, Engineers and Innovators scholarship.
The scholarship luncheon offers the opportunity for students to meet those who have made scholarship monies available to them, to allow them to connect and to express appreciation for the continued support. We, JCPS, appreciates the opportunity to work with our community members and businesses who choose to support our young people as they leave JCHS to pursue various degrees, vocations, and their dreams.
