Each year, the Foundation hosts it's annual Gala to recognize and celebrate the success within the Jefferson City School District. The Foundation also utilizes this event as an opportunity to recognize a class of inductees into it's Hall of Leaders program. More about previous year's honorees can be found here! The event also serves as the largest fundraising event for the Foundation to supplement the funding for the Foundation's teacher and school grant program. The support and attendance of our JCPS family, community members, and business leaders are encouraged as it takes a village to continually pave a road for today's youth and provide them hope for a better tomorrow. #JCStrongerTogether
The Jefferson City Public School (JCPS) Foundation Gala was held on September 24, 2019. "Embarking on a New Era" was the theme throughout the evening. This year's event focused on the Jefferson City School District embarking on a new era of education in light of the many changes happening around the district. The JCPS Foundation Gala is an annual event to celebrate public education and induct special friends of the Foundation and school district into the Foundation's Hall of Leaders program. A listing of this year's Hall of Leaders Inductees can be found by following the blue hyperlink. The guests were escorted into the ballroom by the Jefferson City High School Drumline as everything was in "ship-shape" and ready to "set sail" for the evening's program. Entertainment for the evening was provided by the North Elementary Notables, Jefferson City High School's string quartet, and Capital City High Schools' MadJazz Chorus group. A black curtain cascaded the back wall, while a painted backdrop sat in front of the curtain and displayed "Embarking on a New Era" with portholes that included each school's logo. The front of the stage was decorated with suitcases while the plaques of the Hall of Leader honorees were placed on a table for all to view. Foundation board president, Ms. Erika Leonard, and Treasurer, Mr. Andy Fechtel, recognized this year's 2019 Hall of Leaders honorees throughout the evening, allowing special remarks being shared by fellow community members, coworkers, and friends. The evening's event also honored the Foundation's current Executive Director, Mrs. Karen Enloe, as she embarks on a new era of her own. Karen will be retiring this December. She was congratulated at the gala through a pre-recorded video of clips from friends, donors, and former co-workers. To honor Karen, Foundation donors George and Gayleen Ousley established a new scholarship that will be awarded annually at the gala, to a staff member from the Southwest Early Childhood Center.Another newly established scholarship that was announced at the Gala was the Teacher of the Year Educational Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded during the senior scholarship luncheon to a graduating senior who plans to major in Education. The Foundation wants to thank the local businesses and individuals who contributed to this year's gala in efforts to support Jefferson City School District students and staff. Part of the proceeds from this annual event is used to support the Foundation's Teacher and School Grant program.A complete list of event sponsors can be found here.
