The JCPS Foundation Gala was held on September 20, 2016. This year's event focused on the importance of learning through a lifetime of reading. Reading: A Keystone to a Lifetime of Exploration was the theme throughout the evening. A special thank you to Scholastic for providing all the books for the evening. The JCPS Foundation Gala is an annual event to celebrate public education and induct special friends of the Foundation and school district into the Foundation's Hall of Leaders program. A listing of Hall of Leaders Inductees can be found by year on the About Us tab on this website.
The stage was set with reading vignettes depicting all ages and stages of readers. Theresa McClellan, avid reader and Foundation Board member, read to young children Connor Leesman and Caroline Jarrett. Middle school students from Lewis & Clark all the way to high schooler Christian Massman showed the growth of their reading skills by reading different genres and reading preferences such as from an iPad.
Mark Kaiser, Foundation President asked the participants to consider purchasing a book(s) and donating them to a teacher or school.
The 2016 Foundation Gala was the largest in attendance and in sponsorships collected.
